We're assisting a profitable Enterprise AI Customer Support startup with their search for senior/staff ML research engineers. The role will be onsite in their SF office. What you'll do: Develop models for customer support tasks that exceed the performance of closed source models Experiment with small open-source models to drive order of magnitude reductions in latency across channels Break down ambiguous research ideas into clear, iterative milestones and roadmaps. What you'll bring: 5 years of experience in AI/ML engineering or research Experience fine-?tuning and deploying LLMs in production environments.? Experience at early-?stage startups,? autonomous vehicles,? agentic AI companies,? multi-?modal AI companies Experience gathering data/generating synthetic data,? performing supervised fine-?tuning and RL,? and working on evaluations and deployments.? Familiar with SFT,? FL,? DPO,? PPO,? GRPO Nice to haves: Experience with voice/speech Experience working with large open source LLMs Prior experience working with multi-?modal models.?
