Job Summary
This clinician has autonomous professional responsibility for 5150
evaluations, emergency behavioral health assessments, level of care
determination, and interventions with patients and families. The
incumbent makes recommendations to medical staff regarding the
level of care determination of behavioral health and psychiatric
patients. This clinician will work collaboratively with medical and
nursing staff and other behavioral health and psychiatric staff to
assess and care for behavioral health and psychiatric patients and
family members in Emergency Departments and other healthcare
settings. May function as a program manager or administrator of a
psychiatric department or clinic. May lead in planning and
coordinating the work of a multidisciplinary treatment staff.
Assists with long-term planning; revises / implements new
procedures; conducts training for professional and paraprofessional
staff members; and provides psychotherapeutic treatment with
emphasis on the most severely disturbed and high-risk cases.
