Job Description:
Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical
Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a
specialized field (e.g., Optics, Sensors, Audio/DSP, etc.), or
equivalent practical experience. 4 years of experience working with
optical systems modeling, systems design and integration, including
experimental or laboratory work. Experience in optical design
software (e.g., Zemax, CodeV, LightTools, Rsoft, Lumerical or
similar). Preferred qualifications: Master's degree or PhD in
Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related
field (e.g., Optics, Sensors, Audio/DSP). 5 years of industry
experience with optical systems modeling, systems design and
integration, including experimental or laboratory work. Familiarity
with augmented reality/near-eye displays and overall display
systems. Ability to build relatively complex modeling tools from
scratch/fundamentals. Expertise in at least one of the following
optical modeling tools: FDTD (e.g. Lumerical), RCWA (e.g. S4),
Ray-tracing (e.g. CodeV or Zemax OpticStudio). Highly proficient in
Python/C++. About the job The Pixel Optics team, as part of the
broader Pixel Imaging & Vision organization, is looking for a
highly motivated individual to explore current and new optics
technologies related to near-eye displays. The team is composed of
optics experts in various fields and partners cross-functionally
with various other organizations both within Pixel and also across
other business units to develop innovative optical solutions for a
variety of consumer applications. In this role, you will work
alongside a team of highly skilled and experienced optical
engineers to identify new concepts and system architectures to
improve optical performance, work closely with cross-functional
teams and external partners to define optical system requirements,
as well as helping to manage and develop these state-of-the art
display optical systems. The Google Pixel team focuses on designing
and delivering the world's most helpful mobile experience. The team
works on shaping the future of Pixel devices and services through
some of the most advanced designs, techniques, products, and
experiences in consumer electronics. This includes bringing
together the best of Google’s artificial intelligence, software,
and hardware to build global smartphones and create transformative
experiences for users across the world. The US base salary range
for this full-time position is $159,000-$231,000 bonus equity
benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and
location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work
location and additional factors, including job-related skills,
experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can

engineers in the Pixel Optics team as well as cross-functional
teams and external partners to explore existing and novel optical
architectures, for near-eye display & related applications. Help to
define system/sub-system/component level specifications for
near-eye displays and related systems. Help to manage, develop and
execute on related efforts with cross-functional teams across
system, product design, display and optics. Support internal system
level optics modeling and simulations.
