What we do:
The Battery Design Engineer group focuses on designing and
prototyping high voltage and high-power battery system in
electrified aircrafts. Sr. Battery Design Engineer -
Electromechanical focuses on the Electrical & Mechanical portions
of the architecture for the Energy Storage System (ESS). The role
is involved on every step of ESS development process from
conceptual designs up thru SOP, selection of components, prototype
builds to releasing design for manufacturing. This role
collaborates with other battery engineers and battery system
technologists to advance and to integrate key technologies to the
design.
What you can do:
- Design electrical and mechanical components for HV/HP battery
system from concept to production, such as bus bars, current
correctors, fusing elements, cold plates, cell holders and module
structures
- Perform analytical and physical assessments on battery system
to ensure the design's robustness and reliability, as well as to
match with requirements
- Select fuses for different fault discrimination / latency
requirements of sub systems such as contactors, wires/busbars
considering fault impedances and I2t values of components
- Develop new and innovative electrical wiring / busbar design to
package ESS system at module level and pack level and optimize
space utilization
- Build and contribute to component specifications, verification
plans, and other technical documents
- Develop and release module level and system level requirement
specifications, mechanical and electrical drawings for the
busbar/wiring designs
- Develop Validation requirements for Electrical systems and
Mechanical systems in ESS and approving validation results
confirming agreed upon performance
- May require up to 10% of domestic and international
travels
- Other duties as assigned What you can contribute:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical
engineering, or relevant engineering field
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience in HV electrical
system design (wiring, bus bar, components) for High voltage
batteries or similar systems in automotive or aerospace industries
(an equivalent combination of education and experience may be
considered)
- Proven experience in HV DC electrical part selection, wiring
design & release, busbar design & release is the desired skill for
this position
- Expert level experience in Mechanical CAD tools (CATIA,
SOLIDWORK or similar) used for design of wiring system with
electrical components required
- Ability to design HW to meet Environmental, EMI/EMC,
lightening, thermal, shock & vibration
- Excellent skills required in technical communication, and
reliance on data for issue resolution and decision making
- Working level understanding Li Ion cell characteristics
required
- Must have hand-on experience in prototype build high voltage
battery packs

The pay range for this position is:
$166,400 $232,960 USD
